As we get ready to face Crystal Palace, a team who have caused us some challenges in recent years, we asked Palace fan Christopher Angeli his thoughts…

Mientras que nos preparamos para enfrentarnos al Crystal Palace, un equipo que nos ha provocado algunas dificultades últimamente, preguntamos a Christopher Angeli, hincha del Palace, sus opiniones….

 

1. How do you think Crystal Palace’s pre-season has gone?

 A tu modo de ver, ¿qué tal ha ido la pretemporada del Crystal Palace?

 

Pre-season went well. Different mentality having an attacking minded coach vs Allardyce’s defensive one. It suits some players more like, Zaha and Townsend but you can see our centre backs struggling.

La pretemporada ha ido bien. Ahora tenemos una mentalidad ofensiva comparándola con la mentalidad defensiva de Allardyce. Esto favorece más a jugadores como Zaha o Townsend pero a nuestros centrales les cuesta mucho y eso se nota. 

 

2. Any new signing we should keep an eye on, or someone from your youth team coming through?

 Hay algún nuevo fichaje o canterano que deberíamos vigilar?

 

Loftus-Cheek (loan signing from Chelsea) – he was the best player for us against Huddersfield – and Reidewald (a bew defensive signing De Boer thinks highly of)

Loftus-Cheek (cedido del Chelsea) – fue nuestro mejor jugador contra el Huddersfield – y Reidewald (un nuevo fichaje defensivo que De Boer valora mucho).

 

3. A new manager….what are you expecting (or hoping) that Frank will bring to the team?

 Tenéis nuevo entrenador- ¿qué crees (o esperas) que traerá al club? 

 

Better attacking football. The last few seasons have been nerve wracking and too close to call in terms of nearly getting relegated.

Una mejora en la calidad de fútbol ofensivo. Las últimas temporadas han sido muy tensas ya que casi bajamos a segunda.

 

4. Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: you’ve had some good results against us in the past few years. What do you expect from this game?

Liverpool contra Crystal Palace: el Palace ha conseguido muy buenos resultados contra nosotros en los últimos años. ¿Qué esperas del partido?

 

Obviously, we’d be going into this game fairly confident with our recent run of results. We play the bigger teams with more freedom as we’re never expected to get a point, let alone the three. The lesser teams (like Huddersfield), where we expect a win, we end up losing (as you saw last week). I’m hopeful for a point against Liverpool this time, but I think Klopp’s assembled a good team, so we’ll see. Heart says 1-1. Mind says, “3-1” Liverpool win.

Por supuesto, enfrentamos este partido con mucha confianza tras nuestra buena racha que hemos tenido recientemente. Jugamos contra los grandes equipos con más libertad, ya que nadie espera que consigamos tres puntos, ni siquiera uno en realidad. Contra los equipos “pequeños” como el Huddersfield, cuando esperamos ganar acabamos perdiendo como vimos la semana pasada. Espero conseguir un punto contra el Liverpool esta vez. Pero creo que Klopp ha creado un buen equipo, así que vamos a ver. Mi corazón dice un empate a uno… mi cabeza dice 3-1 para el Liverpool.

 

5. Finally, where do you expect Palace to finish in the league this season? And what about Liverpool?

Finalmente, ¿en qué posición crees que acabará el Palace esta temporada? Y el Liverpool?

 

I can see Palace finishing bottom half of the table, comfortably above relegation. Liverpool, top four. One of the domestic cups. I, along with most impartial fans, would want to see you guys keep your top players. Especially now that you have a few injury concerns.

Veo al Palace en la parte baja de la clasificación pero cómodamente más arriba de los puestos de descenso. Al Liverpool le veo entre los cuatro primeros y ganando una copa. Como hincha imparcial del fútbol me gustaría ver que los mejores jugadores se quedan en vuestro equipo, sobre todo porque ahora tenéis muchos problemas con las lesiones.
