Madrid Reds´ View on New Season: Simon Howard

And finally…..Simon Howard tells us what he expects this season

  • What do you think about our performance in the pre-season?

I have been very impressed with our performance pre-season. I think we have benefitted from not having any international tournaments and Klopp has managed to spend plenty of time on training ideas and building up fitness. At times we looked world class in pre-season

  • Which player are you most looking forward to watching next season?

It has to be Salah – a fantastic signing. We really missed Mané last season when he was at the African Nations Cup and then injured. Hopefully Salah will give us that extra option when teams come to Anfield and park the bus (or buses in Mourinho’s case!)

  • Not long left to sign new players – what are we missing?

A centre back that doesn’t panic and can concentrate for a full 90 minutes. If we get VVD in and keep hold of Phil, I think it will have been a good window.

  • Which premiership teams are you nervous about next season?

Mainly City – they have strengthened well and already had a strong team on paper. With the amount of cash they have to spend they should be winning the League every year. I think Mourinho has lost the plot and don’t see United as a real threat. There is something not right at Chelsea – Conté has publicly said that he didn’t want to sell Matic. Spurs don’t want to spend any cash and I can’t see them taking to Wembley.

  • Obviously we want to win the quadruple! But what do you think is a realistic goal?

I really think winning the League is a realistic goal under Klopp. If we win the League, I wouldn’t care about amythin else and I also apologise in advance for my drunken antics next May if it actually happens!!
