Tell us about your OLSC….how did you get started? / Cuéntanos sobre su OLSC … ¿Cómo comenzó todo?

The first Liverpool Italian Club started in 1999. A big fan of LFC who lives in Florence, our friend Filippo Rossi, met our current president Nunzio Esposito, and they decided to establish a club. In the first years there weren’t many of us, but after the Champions League final in Istanbul vs AC Milan and thanks to the new technologies, we grew in numbers.

We only became official in 2013.

El primer club italiano del Liverpool arrancó a funcionar en 1999. Un gran fan del LFC que vive en Florencia, nuestro amigo Filippo Rossi, se encontró con nuestro actual presidente, Nunzio Esposito, y decidieron crear un club. Los primeros años no éramos muchos, pero después de la final de la Liga de Campeones en Estambul contra el AC Milán, y gracias a las nuevas tecnologías, crecimos en número de aficionados.

No nos convertimos en branch oficial hasta 2013.

 

How many members do you have now, and where do you meet? / ¿Cuántos miembros sois ahora y dónde os reunís?

We are almost 300, and we meet sometimes in Milan, Rome and Naples in sports pubs where they show Liverpool matches.

Somos casi 300 y nos reunimos a veces en Milán, Roma y Nápoles, en pubs deportivos donde dan los partidos de Liverpool.

 

Apart from watching the Mighty Reds, do you do anything else together? / Además de ver a los Mighty Reds, ¿hacéis algo más juntos?

Every year in September we meet for the annual gathering in Montecatini Terme, in Tuscany. It’s a two day meeting where we stay together and watch a Liverpool match, play football, eat some regional food specialities and do barbecue. You are all invited for the next year meeting, as we’ll celebrate our 20 years!

We also participate in 5-a-side football tournaments, one in particular called “Italian Connection”, with all Italy’s British team supporters clubs.

In all these years most of us have become friends, we often meet just for the pleasure to see each other!

Cada año en septiembre nos juntamos para la reunión anual en Montecatini Terme, en la Toscana. Es una reunión de dos días en la que nos encontramos y vemos un partido del Liverpool, jugamos al fútbol, comemos algunas especialidades gastronómicas regionales y hacemos una barbacoa. ¡Estáis todos invitados a la reunión del próximo año, en la que celebraremos ¡20 años!

También participamos en torneos de fútbol 5, uno en particular llamado: “Conexión italiana”, contra todos los clubes de hinchas de equipos británicos de Italia.

En todos estos años, la mayoría de nosotros nos hemos hecho amigos, ¡a menudo quedamos sencillamente porque nos apetece!

 

What has been a highlight for your OLSC?

/ ¿Qué ha sido lo más destacado hasta ahora en vuestra OLSC?

I think last year, when we won the “Italian Connection” football tournament.

There have been also some beautiful moments in Liverpool, e.g. during the first group travel in 2010 or when we saw the last Gerrard goal at Anfield in the low seats of the Kop. That was really emotional…

Creo que el año pasado, cuando ganamos el torneo de fútbol “Conexión italiana”.

También ha habido algunos momentos hermosos en Liverpool, por ejemplo, durante el primer viaje en grupo en 2010, o cuando vimos el último gol de Gerrard en Anfield en los asientos de abajo en el Kop. Eso fue realmente emocionante…

 

Anything else interesting we should know about your Supporters Club? / ¿Hay algo interesante que debiéramos saber sobre vuestro club de seguidores? 

Every two months we release a free online fanzine called “The Reds”. Visit our website www.liverpoolitalia.it if you want to download a copy and read our LFC related pieces, but you should learn a bit of Italian!

Cada dos meses lanzamos un fanzine online gratuito llamado “The Reds”. Visitad nuestra página web www.liverpoolitalia.it si queréis descargar una copia y leed nuestros artículos relacionados con LFC, ¡pero tenéis que aprender un poco de italiano!

 

How are you feeling about the new season?  ¿Cuáles son tus sensaciones cara a la nueva temporada?

We are doing great things in this beginning of the season! We have to be honest and say that we have to aspire to win something this year. We bought one of the best goalkepeers in the world and really good players like Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri: now we can say we have a top team bench. I am feeling optimistic!

¡Estamos haciendo las cosas muy bien en este comienzo de temporada! Tenemos que ser honestos y decir claramente que tenemos que aspirar a ganar algo este año. Compramos a uno de los mejores porteros del mundo y a jugadores realmente buenos como Keita, Fabinho y Shaqiri: ahora podemos decir que tenemos un banquillo de equipo grande. ¡Soy optimista!

 

One other question: what would you like to know about other OLSC? And how would you answer that question yourself?

Which is the city of your country that has more members in your OLSC? Here in Italy we have many supporters from Milan, Naples, Florence, but the city with more supporters is… Bergamo!

¿Cuál es la ciudad de tu país con mayor número de miembros en tu OLSC? Aquí en Italia tenemos muchos seguidores de Milán, Nápoles y Florencia, pero la ciudad con más seguidores es … ¡Bergamo!
