Tell us about your OLSC….how did you get started? / Cuéntanos sobre su OLSC … ¿Cómo comenzó todo?

There was a small group in Kansas City a number of years ago that would meet at another location south of Kansas City. It wasn’t until about 2014 that the “ownership” of the group changed over a bit and we really started to dig in and attract all of our fellow Reds around KC who really didn’t know a group existed. We found out about all the amazing aspects of becoming an OLSC and started basically from the ground up in acquiring the members, increasing our social media presence, etc…From that time of about 50-60 people on the Facebook group, we have grown now to 500 members, many of which travel to games when the Reds are in the US.

Hubo un pequeño grupo en Kansas City hace algunos años que se reunía en otro lugar al sur de la ciudad. No fue hasta aproximadamente 2014, cuando la “titularidad” del grupo cambió un poco y comenzamos a afrontar el tema de verdad y a atraer a todos nuestros compañeros reds en KC, porque realmente no sabían que existía un grupo. Descubrimos todas las posibilidades increíbles que conllevaba convertirnos en OLSC y empezamos básicamente desde la base con la admisión de miembros, aumentando nuestra presencia en las redes sociales, etc. Desde ese momento, pasamos de aproximadamente 50-60 personas en el grupo de Facebook, a 500 miembros ahora, muchos de los cuales viajan a los partidos cuando los Reds están en los Estados Unidos.

 How many members do you have now, and where do you meet? / ¿Cuántos miembros sois ahora y dónde os reunís?

As just mentioned, we are about 500 strong in Kansas City and looking to continue to find people that might not yet know about us, or converting those who have not yet seen the light. We get together on a weekly basis at The Dubliner in downtown Kansas City. They have really been immense in their support of our group, opening up early for the 6:30am matches and cooking us breakfast. They’ve really helped us feel at home.

Como acabo de mencionar, somos aproximadamente 500 fieles en Kansas City y seguimos buscando a esa gente que aún no nos conoce, o convertir a aquellos que aún no han visto la luz. Nos reunimos todas las semanas en The Dubliner, en el centro de Kansas City. Realmente ha sido tremendo su apoyo a nuestro grupo, abriendo el bar temprano para los partidos de las 6:30 a.m. y haciéndonos el desayuno. Francamente nos han ayudado a sentirnos como en casa.

Apart from watching the Mighty Reds, do you do anything else together? / Además de ver a los Mighty Reds, ¿hacéis algo más juntos?

There are a number of that get together regularly outside of match days, but this is an area where, as a newer OLSC, we are looking to bolster. We’d really like to get participation in fundraising/charity efforts or other activities that get us together when there’s a break in the PL schedule. 

Hay varios de los miembros que se reúnen regularmente aunque no haya partido, pero esa es precisamente un área donde, como un OLSC joven, estamos buscando reforzar. Nos gustaría participar en acciones cara a la recaudación de fondos / caridad u otras actividades que nos junten cuando hay una pausa en la PL.

What has been a highlight for your OLSC? / ¿Qué ha sido lo más destacado hasta ahora en vuestra OLSC?

There are two that come to mind recently. First of which was our numbers at the Champions League Final. Although we have 500 members, not all show on match day. However, for the final, we had every bit of 450 attendees that were able to pack out not only The Dubliner, but also spilled out into the outdoor atrium with the big screen, along with a couple other bars. Second being the recent US Tour. We were able to secure some passes to attend closed training sessions and VIP passes to the fan event which was something we wouldn’t have been able to partake in otherwise. It’s just been a really good experience so far. We’ve also been able to send some members to Anfield for the first time with the use of our tickets we procured during ticket allotment. Very excited for those members to experience Liverpool and Anfield for the first time.

Recuerdo dos y son recientes. Primero fue la cantidad de personas que asistieron a la final de la Champions League. Aunque tenemos 500 miembros, no todos vienen a cada partido. Sin embargo, para la final, hubo hasta 450 aficionados que desbordaron no solo The Dubliner, sino también el patio al aire libre con una pantalla grande, sumado a otros dos bares más. Segundo, el reciente tour por los Estados Unidos. Conseguimos algunos pases para asistir a sesiones de entrenamiento a puerta cerrada y pases VIP para el evento de hinchas, en los que de otro modo no hubiéramos podido participar. Ha sido una muy buena experiencia hasta ahora. También hemos podido enviar a algunos miembros a Anfield por primera vez con el uso de nuestras entradas que adquirimos durante el reparto de tickets. Es muy emocionante que ciertos miembros experimenten Liverpool y Anfield por primera vez.

Anything else interesting we should know about your Supporters Club? / ¿Hay algo interesante que debiéramos saber sobre vuestro club de seguidores? 

We frequently akin ourselves to the city of Liverpool. The friendly and inviting atmosphere that has been established for a long time here in Kansas City has really taken hold in our OLSC as well. It’s been fantastic to be able to travel and meet other OLSC’s on our journeys to games in other cities. Although we are likely not the ideal location for LFC to make a stop during their US Tours, it would be a dream to be of consideration as we have a very strong supporters base here in KC.

Nos parecemos mucho en la manera de relacionarnos entre nosotros a la gente de Liverpool. El ambiente amistoso y acogedor que se ha establecido durante mucho tiempo aquí en Kansas City, también se ha arraigado en nuestro OLSC. Ha sido fantástico poder viajar y conocer otros OLSC en nuestros viajes a partidos en otras ciudades. Aunque es probable que no sea el lugar ideal para que LFC haga una parada durante sus recorridos por los Estados Unidos, sería un sueño que lo tuvieran en cuenta, ya que contamos con un número de seguidores muy sólido aquí en KC.

Finally….how are you feeling about the new season? / Finalmente … ¿Cuál es tu impresión cara a la nueva temporada?We are feeling extremely confident going into this upcoming season. With the deals that we have done this summer it show that our owners are truly invested in what Klopp is doing in Liverpool. Since the end of last season, the changing of the tide feels almost tangible when thinking about it.

Estamos muy confiados cara a la nueva temporada. Con los fichajes que hemos hecho este verano, nuestros propietarios demuestran estar verdaderamente interesados en lo que Klopp está haciendo en Liverpool. Desde el final de la temporada pasada, el cambio en la dirección es palpable si lo piensas bien.

 

Another question I’d like to hear from another OLSC is, if you could have one past LFC match replayed in your hometown, what would it be? Our answer would have to be Real Madrid. Getting a bit of revenge from the CL final would feel nice. Or the Norwich thriller from 2016 for the sheer excitement of a last minute Lallana winner!

La respuesta debiera ser contra el Real Madrid. Vengarnos un poco de la final de la CL sería agradable. ¡O el suspense contra el Norwich de 2016 por la gran emoción que supuso ganar con el gol de Lallana en el último minuto!
