My name is James Ashton, but I go by Jay. There is not any interesting story about why I go by Jay, but I like it as it feels a lot less serious than the name James.
¿De dónde eres? / Where are you from?
I am from Liverpool, in the area of West Derby. In fact, I grew up about a 5 minute drive from Liverpool’s old training ground, Melwood. I remember the magic feeling seeing the players driving out after training, and us kids chasing their cars down the road trying to get autographs.
¿Por qué eres del Liverpool? / Why are you a Liverpool fan?
I am a Liverpool fan because my entire family are. My parents both used to regularly attend games, my mum having a season ticket for a few years in the 80s/90s. Although there was never any chance of me supporting anyone else, my mum would literally kick me out the house if she ever thought I supported Everton or United. Furthermore, my parents always dressed me and my brother up in Liverpool kits, making sure that we knew right from start that we are a Liverpool family.
Jugador favorito del Liverpool (u otro team) / Favourite Liverpool (or other team) player?
I was born in 1997, so my earliest memories of supporting Liverpool include watching Gerrard break into the first team. As I was growing up, watching Gerrard develop into the one of the greatest players of all time was something which made every child fall in love with him, the club, and the sport itself. Watching someone from our city dominate on the biggest stages in football was something that brought lots of pride to the red half of Merseyside. He was a game-changer, regularly turning games around when we looked bleak and defeated – the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul being the most notable example of this. In terms of the current team, Jordan Henderson is my favourite player. I see a lot of the leadership qualities that Gerrard brought before he retired, so I think this is why I can’t help but love Henderson. I’m sure he himself would agree that technically, Gerrard was in a different level to himself, however Hendo brings something to the team which I don’t think many people can put their finger on. Just his presence alone seems to lift our performances, and the team that Klopp has built, with Hendo as leader, has shown that Hendo is one of Liverpool’s greatest ever captains. Finally, away from the pitch, Henderson seems to be a big part of things like the BLM movement and the improvement of Women’s football, showing that he is such a good role model and a genuinely great person.
¿Por qué te gusta venir a Triskel? ¿Por qué Madrid Reds? / Why do you like to come to Triskel? Why the Madrid Reds?

I moved to Madrid in 2020 when I was 22 years old, during the pandemic. I moved on my own so my priority was to try and make some mates. I researched the MadridReds before coming, and introduced myself to the firm at the Triskel at the Community Shield game against Arsenal (we lost on penaltiesĀ š). Purely by coincidence, I moved into a flat which happened to be about a 30 second wall from the Triskel, meaning I had no excuse to not go down and support the Reds every game. I knew from the start that this was a great group of people to watch the footy with, and I have met some of my best friends there. It has a good mix of people from all over the world, and so it’s a good place for me to practice my Spanish and make mates along the way. The beer isn’t so bad either!

Hello. I’m Ignacio Iraizoz, but they call me Nacho. I have been a follower and fan of LFC since Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over BarƧa in the Champions League in the year we were champions in Madrid in 2019. But from previous years I already felt great sympathy and admiration for this great football club. I have international membership since the 19/20 season. For me, we have the best coach in the world, Jürgen Klopp, and great current players and players from the history of the club. I could name a few of my favourites, starting with our great captain Jordan Henderson (his assist to Mo Salah last season against M. United was masterful, the best I’ve ever seen in terms of spectacular precision, simply majestic), Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah, T. Alexander Arnold; and previous of course Steven Gerrard, Kenny Dalglish, Fernando Torres, Xavi Alonso, Sadio ManĆ©….. To name a few. I am Spanish, from Pamplona, āābut sometimes when I can I go to Madrid since I am also a non-subscribing member of Club AtlĆ©tico de Madrid. Hence my great admiration for Fernando Torres, since he has belonged to my two teams that I love. I confess that I like Jürgen Klopp much more as a coach than Diego Pablo Simeone. I’ve been twice to the Wanda Metropolitano watching AtlĆ©tico and Liverpool in the Champions League. I have once passed by the Krystel brewery in Madrid but it was closed. My dream is to one day travel to Liverpool and go to Anfield for a Premier League or Champions League game, or tour Anfield. With pleasure, a cordial greeting. ā¤ļøYou’ll never walk alone ā¤ļø
